Beaumaris Men’s 1st XI have made it three T20 wins in a row, edging out a strong and competitive Murrumbeena side in a thriller at Cloris, sealing the match by just 3 runs.

Batting first, Beaumaris found themselves under real pressure at 5–59, with the innings at a crossroads. Enter captain Jonty Leadbeater, who produced a masterclass in T20 control and power. Jonty finished 71 off 43 balls*, a remarkable innings featuring just one boundary but five towering sixes, perfectly timing his acceleration when it mattered most.

He was superbly supported by Angus Row, whose calm and composed 27 off 23 balls proved invaluable, helping Beaumaris post a competitive 149.

The chase was always going to be tight. After five overs, it was well and truly game on, with Murrumbeena in striking distance. Angus Newman then stepped up with the ball, delivering in the pressure moments and claiming four crucial wickets, swinging momentum back our way.

But with the match hanging in the balance, the moment of the day arrived, Jesse Bell, patrolling the boundary, covered at least 30 metres to pull in an absolute blinder, a catch that will be replayed for years and one that ultimately turned the match.

A gritty, hard-fought 3-run victory, built on leadership, composure under pressure, and outstanding team moments.

Well done, Sharks — momentum building nicely. 🦈💪
